FAQ's
Why should I visit?
Visiting the Buckner/O'Brien Cemetery offers a unique opportunity to see a remnant of a short-lived settlement that served as the first county seat! Although no buildings remain, the carefully restored cemetery allows the public to see a place that once held importance in travel, trade/commerce, and military mobilization. There is also a unique opportunity to see various Scout Projects that have been completed in and around the grounds, and it has been a great learning moment for the younger generation!
Important to know
There are multiple parking areas and many nearby dining options. We ask that all visitors remain respectful of the resting places of both the known and possible unknown individuals buried here, and the variety of plants and animals that inhabit the grounds. There are no public restrooms. Visitors should be aware that they enter the cemetery and grounds at their own risk.
